Adult Swim
For ten years I was part of Adult Swim's freelancer deep-bench of creatives for packaging, branding, and email design/development, and website design/development.
Roles: Senior Designer, Packaging Designer, Front-End Development
The goal of these projects is translate the creativity and irreverent humor of Adult Swim's programming to DVD package design and onscreen menu UI. After that design marketing materials for Point-of-Purchase, B2B marketing, licensing, outdoor media, and advertising with the same twisted humor.
The strong visual creative solutions and high level of craftsmanship earned me a 10 year relationship as one of the few outside design services to be considered part of the Adult Swim in-house creative team. Many of my designs for Adult Swim DVD packages have won numerous awards and been featured in publications.
Adult Swim is one of the most unique forms of broadcast entertainment and digital entertainment out there. Understanding of the brand takes more than research, it's an immersive experience. And that's what I do with the brands I help develop.
Over my ten year relationship as contractor for Adult Swim I worked with the in-house creative team to maintain brand attitude and standards. It's a huge creative challenge to be constantly design cutting-edge creative work that speaks to such a unique audience. But when you love what you do, it's almost not work. Almost.
From developing HTML emails, to designing micro-sites, to creating online tools for events, part of my tenure with Adult Swim involved digital design and development along with packaging, branding, and print.
I have created websites for giveaways and events like Comic Con and Adult Swim Presents.
Challenge: Quickly create a custom-themed secure CMS for Adult Swim Games while game content and visual assets are still being developed. Timeline: Three Weeks
Outcome: After a quick start and developing an HTML high-fidelity prototype within one week the project began to drag due to issues with the game development. After approvals were received for the prototype I built the custom-themed CMS for testing. At this point the game development got stuck in the mud with both technical and legal issues and died a quick death. But I love this design and prototype (link coming soon) and it really reflects the speed at which I work while delivering a high-quality product..
